How did I build this?


1) Pick someone to be


* I like Signalis.  I like sad big robot.  Many such cases!


2) What would that be like in Shadowrun?


Without getting into the entire story of the game, the Mynah units in Signalis are Replikas, psionically imprinted cyborgs meant for heavy operations on distant planets.  Defining characteristics:


* Awakened, so she can actually be psionically active

* Appearance-wise: huge, gritty, rusty, stained metal.  Expressive face.  Demure, but unstoppable.

* Moments of grace.  Seeking what she does not know and cannot have.

* L A S E R


Priorities


* We want to be Big, so Troll.  That's a minimum of 3.  But really 4, because Troll B is ass.  You could do a common metavariant like Giant if you want, but eh.  Ork B would also let you get some more free attribute points, but not as Big.  Big!

* We want to be psionically active, i.e., Awakened.  Magicians tend to die in space and Mynah was not launching mystic attacks on you (that's Falke.  maybe later.).  Let's go with Adept, so that's 1 prio point.  If we do Troll A we can cap out MAG to 6 without too much trouble.  We're up to 5.

* We want a full suite of cyberlimbs, including torso, and some fairly expensive stuff (L A S E R).  Resources A.  That's 9.

* OK, we have 1 prio point left.  Skills D sucks.  You can either do Attributes D and get 2 points of attribute, or Adept C and get 2 skill points and 2 Edge.  Both are fine.  This sheet has Attributes D.


In Shadowrun


* Again, without drowning you in lore book references, the place to find 'eldritch gynoid from space' in Shadowrun is probably the Gagarin Space Station, which was fully taken over by monads.  This explains what would probably be an 'odd' personality (understatement), the extensive cybernetic augs, and the L A S E R.  


Qualities


* She's a monad, so let's take One Of Them.  I don't think Incomplete Deprogramming is appropriate when the secondary personality (in this bio) never existed, but she's definitely a monad.  One Of Them has strange thematics if you have contacts who *know* you are a monad and also don't have a problem with it, but there it is anyway.  You might reasonably swap it out for something else at this point in the game's lore-history.  


* EVO would not like it overall if a monad just went AWOL, so we'll give her a trifecta of EVO Is Mad qualities - Escaped Custody, Records on File, and Corporate Pariah.  We'll top it up with Distinctive Style because, uh, I mean.


* Positive qualities start with Biocompatibility, so we can actually aug out and still keep 1 Essence for Awakening.  Restricted Gear gets us the L A S E R.  That leaves 10.  Black Market Pipeline will let the sheet actually come together with the alphaware we need to keep Essence over 1 without it being a huge pain in the ass.  If you're slightly less dedicated to the expy bit we're doing here, you can ditch Restricted Gear, just gen with the PEP gun, and take Redliner.  


* Later pickups would be Redliner, Cyber-Singularity Seeker, Mentor Spirit, Perfect Time, Shoot First Don't Ask, Sharpshooter, Exceptional Attribute (MAG), some Way of the Samurai qualities maybe.


Attributes


* STR and AGI will come from limbs.  WIL, INT, and BOD are our starting points for muscle, so let's top them off.  that's 12 points done; we have 2 points we can use for REA, LOG, or CHA, and we'll buy one of the others to 2 with Karma to get out of gen.  Mynah is mom, so let's do CHA for this sheet.


Skills


* Lasers can't have specs, so the only real downside to an active hardwire is the loss of Edge.  I hate using Edge on attacks, so that's not actually a problem for me.  Let's hardwire that to loosen our skill points.


* Sneaking and Perception are straightforward.  We have 4 points left - scatter them around as you see fit, probably as specs for 1-point wonders.


Adept Powers


1 MAG doesn't get you very far.  Combat Sense gives you the Surprise test bonus (and 1 defense) and Improved Skill helps compensate for the lack of firing modes on the L A S E R.  When you get a couple initiations and points of MAG and a mentor spirit you will have way more room to maneuver here.


Cyber


We take the limbs to create our eldritch cyberwoman.  They have to be high-graded to protect Essence, but we can handle it with Pipeline.  We add in the active hardwire for L A S E R and we have enough room to sneak in a Smartlink and datajack.  The limbs take mostly standard stuff - attributes, armor, Optimizations - but with some fun nods to being From Space, like the maglev system and hydraulic jacks.  You have lots of capacity to cram stuff in here later, and aesthetically they should really all be bulk modded, but the availability would tank the grade and thus the Essence.


Gear


We take the L A S E R and the PEP as a nonlethal sidearm.  We take a car, because we're not getting in a taxi with a six foot long mining laser, probably.  That leaves us with enough pocket change to buy a SIN and some odds and ends, which I didn't bother with at this time.  You have 3 karma left over with this build you can probably just turn to nuyen to get a nicer SIN and some more bits and bobs.


In Play


You should have ~17 dice to kerblast people with the Archon, which is enough to hit and cook most corpsec with the Hub's buffed laser damage as long as you're not a million miles away.  Just watch the ammo until you can buy a couple more satchels.  Sneaking and a bit of Gymnastics means you shouldn't struggle too much to get from place, and you have Gymnastics-adjacent ware like skimmers, maglev, climbing claws, and hydraulic jacks to help you go to extra-weird places.  You have armor for days, so getting shot to death is not a huge problem for you, and you can quickly gain 6 more by just topping up the armor add-ons postgen.

Description

* Gagarin monad, imprinted directly onto a clone.  Primarily spent her time doing subterranean mining and the occasional asteroid run.  Not much of a tech-head.  Always found Mars 'uncomfortable' in a way the other monads couldn't really fully explain.

* Stayed behind after the DSECI took off because of a weird mixture of longing for Earth and a sort of maternal concern about all the superweapons being used for evil

* Cleaned up some of the worst bits of technology, directed EVO through some of the others, eventually flew back to Earth to probably live the rest of her life in an arcology

* That sounded lame, so through the Monad Grapevine she arranged for her space ferry to launch her out of an escape pod into the Olympic Mountains

* Hiked down after lasering out all the tags on her stuff, met up with some Skraacha who took her through the Hell's Kitchen mining tunnels to a squat in Puyallup

* Gets A Job (the job is applying Laser).  Also, is Awakened?  That's new.  What's the Astral?  Maybe that's what she was missing up there.
